ASA Bans Five Misleading TikTok Social Casino Ads
The Advertising Standards Authority, also known by its abbreviation ASA, continues its fight in the UK against advertising materials that in any way violate rules and regulations.
This time, a ban was issued on the display and use of certain ads for five companies:
- Huuuge Global
- Mobee Co
- SpinX Games
- Dataverse
- Zeroo Gravity.
The said ads were distributed on the TikTok platform. The social network immediately responded to the ban, confirmed its agreement and that the materials were removed for violating the rules.
The listed companies are social casino applications that do not have the option for clients to win and withdraw real money. However, the ads used expressions that could make users believe the opposite: for example, “Huge jackpot!”, “Become a billionaire overnight!”, “Even bigger prizes and rewards!”.
Although the companies stated that the ads were created by influencers and did not contain any deception, this was still considered a violation of the CAP Code, and in particular the rules on misleading advertising. Applications will be forced to change the materials and focus on the non-monetary nature of rewards.
