Andre Akkari was born in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. At school, he liked computer science and mathematical disciplines, and later the Brazilian began to develop in that direction.

After Andre got educated in the IT field, the young guy got a job as a web developer at some company. It was there that he accidentally familiarized himself with poker, as one of the projects was related to development of a flash poker site.

Andre downloaded a poker client and tried to play this game. He liked online poker, whereupon he began to devote time to studying poker books.

Success in online poker

Soon, Akkari began to achieve success in online poker and won tournaments, one after another. In total, the Brazilian managed to play at more than 90 final tables of large tournaments and win (online) about $500 000 at PokerStars.

His best online result is the second place in the WCOOP H.O.R.S.E. for $10 000. Following the outcome of the event, Andre received several hundred thousand dollars in prize money and obtained a wide popularity.

Success in live tournaments

Andre Akkari has achieved a lot not only in online, but also in live poker events. Andre played his first tournaments in 2005 in South America. In 2007, he was able to take down two Bellagio Cup tournaments, and in 2008, the Brazilian entered the top 100 of the prestigious event – PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

The greatest success came to Andre Akkari at the World Series of Poker in 2011. The guy managed to take the 1st place in the $1 500 tournament, for which he received a gold bracelet and $675 000.

Andre is a member of the PokerStars Team Pro. The Brazilian performs at live poker festivals with the PokerStars patches and often plays in this poker room.

Akkari has a close friend: the famous football player Neymar from Brazil. Andre was a poker idol for Neymar, and for Akkari, in turn, Neymar was an idol in football.

The guys met at a press conference, and since then they have become close friends. The players often hold home poker tournaments, in which they take high places.
