Chris Hunichen

A month ago, the name of professional poker player Chris Hunichen appeared in the news headlines. The reason of such state of affairs was not his victory in poker.  During coronavirus pandemic, Chris made a specific bet concerning the number of deaths from COVID-19.

Hunichen wrote about it on his Twitter:

After this post, Chris Hunichen was strongly criticized. In his defense, the poker player said that he was very frightened by the situation in the world and the fact that people didn’t fully understand the seriousness of given problem. His goal was not to earn money, but to inform people about the danger.

Unfortunately, the situation turned out to be so serious that Hunichen’s bet played much earlier than planned. Already in May, the number of deaths from coronavirus in the United States exceeded 100 000.

Many people criticized such a bet, but the poker player achieved the awareness-raising. He also donated the entire amount won to charity.
