Close Call for Katie Swift at GUKPT Luton

Katie Swift

Katie Swift recently almost managed to snatch the victory in the Main Event of the prestigious 2024 GUKPT series, and this would have been a historic event – as no woman has ever managed to get such a trophy. However, at the last moment, victory eluded her and the British player Seb Crane became the champion.

For 17 years, since the launch of the series, this trophy has been conquered only by men. And Katie was able to get closer to it. The woman lives in Kent and is a member of the Grosvenor professional team, so she can safely be called an experienced regular at the tables.

After a three-hour heads-up, Katie took the runner-up place and received £49,300. According to her, at first she was upset that she failed to get the championship title, but overall she also considers herself a winner.

"I won, too! I added three hours of heads-up experience to my resume. I won the respect and support of so many people. Not forgetting the £49,300 I profited too!", commented Miss Swift.

It is worth noting that the final champion Crane was delighted with the level of play of Katie. And she herself praised the game of the Briton, emphasizing that “His poker skills shone from start to finish”.

Swift actively supports women in poker and hopes that over time their number will only increase. Very soon she will go to the Malta Poker Festival, and will represent her team there.
