Dan Smith Won the Triton Invitational and Earned $3,870,000

Dan Smith won $200K Triton Invitationalin Monte Carlo

The Triton Super High Roller Series festival is underway in Monte Carlo. Yesterday, Jonathan Jaffe became the first winner of the stage, and tonight the champion of one of the most expensive tournaments of the season was defined in $200K Triton Invitational. It is the famous American poker pro Dan Smith. For his victory, Smith received a whooping amount of $3,870,000 prize money.

Smith started the final day of the event with the second stack, but at the 3-max stage he only had 8 BB left. However, in just two hands, Dan managed to knock out the final table chip leader Elton Tsang: first in a confrontation with A7s vs K9o, and then with JTs vs T8o.

Mario Mosböck, an ex-footballer from Austria, was waiting for Smith in heads-up. At the start of one-on-one play, the American had only 30 BB, while his opponent had the chip lead with 57 BB. But in the end, Smith was able to make up the difference, go ahead and win his first Triton championship.

"This is very special. I’ve had a few bigger scores in my career but it’s different ... one of the biggest events of the year and only so many guys get to win them."
