It became known that Galfond proposed Cates to take part in his challenge during the cash game in Bellagio. Cates added that money is not his main goal in this case and he just wants to beat such a pro as Galfond.

Cates can be called an experienced fighter in a heads-up marathon. Daniel fought online with Tom Dwan in the famous "Durrrr Challenge", but it wasn’t destined to finish. Tom Dwan went into the red in the amount of $800 000 and refused to continue playing.
