Dutch Pro Tobias Peters Clinches First Bracelet at WSOPE After 11-Year Wait
In addition to the scandals at WSOP Europe 2023, tournament competitions also continue to take place. Sometimes the road to your dreams can take quite a long time. For Dutch poker professional Tobias Peters, this journey took 11 years. And finally he became the owner of the coveted gold bracelet at the series in Rozvadov.
Tobias has won almost three million dollars in live tournaments, so the issue of prize money is not so pressing for him. But he has been hunting for the bracelet for a very long time, and for him it is of great importance. And it happened in Event #7: €1,650 NLH 6-max, which attracted 495 entries, surpassing the number of the previous year.
His path to the bracelet was not so easy. Toby entered the final table with the smallest stack, about five blinds. However, this did not stop him from playing calmly and confidently going to victory. Heads-up Peters defeated Barny Boatman to claim the coveted trophy along with €143,100 in prize money.
It's also worth noting that at this WSOPE, Peters was already close to a gold bracelet when he finished 5th in the €550 Colossus:
"In Colossus, it was €200,000 for first place, but I wasn't interested in money. I wanted the bracelet."
Final top-three players in Event #7:
Place | Player | Country | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Tobias Peters | Netherlands | €143,100 |
2 | Barny Boatman | UK | €88,500 |
3 | Rafi Elharar | Israel | €60,100 |
Also, the organizers of the series pleased the top three players of this tournament and gave them tickets to the Main Event of the series, which will take place soon. Interestingly, Rafi, who eventually took third place, celebrated his birthday on this day. And runner-up Barney already has two WSOP bracelets to his name, so he wasn’t so upset about losing the final match.
