Galfond was impressed by Hellmuth's play against Esfandiari

Galfond analyzed Hellmuth's play against Esfandiari

Not so long ago, the legendary poker player and the owner of 15 WSOP bracelets Phil Hellmuth became the winner of heads-up duel against Antonio Esfandiari for the second time.

The famous US player Phil Galfond analyzed their game and wrote a post on his Twitter page with the detailed analysis of their game.

He praised Phil Hellmuth for his intuitive old-school poker and for his exploitative play against his opponent. As it is known, the new generation of poker players often resort to GTO strategy that is based primarily on a mathematical approach when making decisions.

Galfond has also added that it’s not for nothing that Hellmuth is considered one of the greatest poker players of all time, and according to his words «Phil clearly knows what Galfond doesn’t".

However, not everyone shared the opinion of RIO Poker founder. The famous high roller from Germany Fedor Holz wrote in a commentary that Hellmuth is a loose player who most often wins against the tight and weaker players.

In turn, Olivier Busquet confirmed Holz's words and said that Phil Hellmuth is “disgusting, disrespectful, self-promoting ego-maniac in his industry".

Another legendary poker player Doyle Brunson stood up for Hellmuth. He didn’t argue with the high rollers’ opinion and said the following:

Galfond responded to these attacks and explained in detail his position. He agreed with Holz, but still noted that Phil Hellmuth is very talented and he clearly has abilities that others don’t have.
