Hellmuth and Dwan to battle at High Stakes Duel III
Phil Hellmuth's new High Stakes Duel III opponent has been determined. We recall that Phil’s previous duel was limited to one match, as Nick Wright refused to ask for a rematch.
Most viewers waited for a more interesting opponent, and their requests were heard. Hellmuth's new rival will be Tom Dwan. If Dwan wins the duel, he will become richer by $200 000. The first match kicks off on August 25 at 17:00 UTC. Who do you think will be the winner?
There's a little backstory to this. At the 2008 NBC National Heads-Up Championship, Tom’s pocket tens beat Phil's aces on the turn as another 10 appeared on the board. After that match, the players exchanged pleasantries and Dwan invited Hellmuth to play heads-up. Back then, the match did not take place, and now, 13 years after the NBC National Heads-Up Championship, they will finally fight one to one.

Tom, however, should take into account that Hellmuth has won seven matches in a row. Earlier, Esfandiari, Negreanu and Nick Wright suffered financially by Phil’s hand. Dwan must show A-game if he expects to emerge victorious.
Will Hellmuth be able to extend his streak to eight wins? Or will Dwan inflict the first defeat on Phil? We'll find out on August 25.
