Julien Martini – WSOPE Event #8 winner
A short stack at the final table isn't a death sentence. Poker players often make comebacks and can even win a tournament from one blind.
The other day, Julien Martini found himself right in the above-described situation – he ran short-stacked in the 2021 WSOP Europe Event #8 (€2 500 Short Deck Hold'em). Well, regardless, Martini pulled himself together and managed to reach heads-up, where he was opposed by Germany’s Philipp Schwab.

The Frenchman eventually won that fight for €60 000. In addition to the prize money, he also received a gold bracelet. It should be noted that this is not the first WSOP trophy on his record – Martini won the previous bracelet at the WSOP 2018.
"Obviously it was unexpected; it's so hard to win a tournament. We all come for this, and when it happens we kind of cannot believe it," Julien told reporters after his victory.
In the last hand of the tournament, Martini was dealt excellent pocket cards, namely AK suited. At that time, Schwab did not have so many chips, so he went all-in holding K-J. The German had few chances to take the pot, but K that showed up on the river completely destroyed all the chances he had.
