Mike Sexton battles against terminal cancer

Mike Sexton 2020

In August, news broke that the WPT Champions Cup would be renamed in honor of one of its founders, namely Mike Sexton. Michael left his post as a WPT commentator long ago, but he occasionally appeared on live broadcasts.

There were rumors that Mike was extremely ill, but no one could confirm that information. The other day, the poker community was shocked by the news that Mike Sexton is suffering from prostate cancer, which has recently begun to progress more actively affecting other organs.

Yesterday, the PartyPoker partner Rob Yong tweeted about his friend's state of health:

Shortly thereafter, Mike’s health status was officially confirmed by his longtime friend Linda Johnson. She reported that information on her Twitter, writing that Sexton is the greatest poker ambassador. Linda also noted that he had given permission to post that tweet.

The tweet stated that Mike wanted to write only positive messages so that no one knew about his health problems. It turned out that the guy had started hospice care at home a month ago, which means that prostate cancer is progressing very quickly.

Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, and other famous poker players have expressed their support to the legendary PartyPoker ambassador.
