New nominations will appear at Global Poker Awards

Global Poker Awards

Last year, Global Poker Awards ceremony was held for the first time. The event turned out to be quite controversial due to a number of reasons. One of the most significant reasons was the fact that some individuals were not nominated in the certain categories.

Last week, the organizers of ceremony announced the new categories at Global Poker Awards which will be held in Las Vegas on 6 March. In total, 25 trophies will be awarded at the event. They also stated that the method for determining the winners was improved.

According to the new voting procedure, each award will be selected in several stages. The group of specialists, who are well versed in this category, will be the first stage. Then, the wider group of experts will be involved in the process of determining the winners. Public vote will become the final step in this scheme.

The most notable changes were made to “Poker Media Content of the Year” category. Last year, it looked rather strange: photographers, broadcaster and writers were in the same category. Now the category is divided into three separate nominations.

The nominees for the main poker award in different categories have not yet been announced, however, we already know the two winners of Global Poker Awards. Alex Foxen became the best player of the year (GPI Poker Player of the Year) for the 2nd consecutive time. Kristen Bicknell became the best player among the female poker pros (GPI Female Player of the Year). The girl deservedly receives this award for the third year in a row.
