PartyPoker will host WPT Shooting Stars event with $500 000 GTD

PartyPoker will host a charity tournament called Shooting Stars as part of the WPT World Online Championships.

Poker fans are very familiar with the Shooting Stars event, as these tournaments gather many well-known poker fans and eminent professionals at the tables, and there is a price on their heads. This year the event will be carried out online, but the bottom line remains the same – most of the funds raised at the tournament will be sent to charity.

The event with a $500 000 guarantee will take place on July 29-30, and during it, a minimum of $50 000 will be raised for a charity fund under the name 1 Day Sooner, which is developing a COVID-19 vaccine. Buy-in of the event equals to $1 100, and $100 of this amount is rake, taken for charity. If the tournament is held with an overlay, the organizers will add the missing amount to send at least 50 thousand dollars to the mentioned fund.

Many famous representatives of the world of poker, sports, and show business will take part in the Shooting Stars event. It’s worth noting that there will be special rewards (bounties) put on the heads of most celebrities.

It’s become known that Timothy Adams, Isaac Haxton, Liv Boeri, Kristen Bicknell, Patrick Leonard, Jamie Staples, Sam Trickett, Manig Loeser, Mike MacDonald, Ryan Riess, and even Steffen Sontheimer, who hasn’t yet played a single tournament this year (for some personal reasons), confirmed their participation in the Shooting Stars event.

In addition to well-known poker professionals, the organizers also offered celebrities, actors, models, and businessmen from different countries to play in the event as invited stars. Thus, the tournament will feature former Manchester United players (John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Darren Fletcher), Norwegian top model Aylar Lie, partypoker LIVE President John Duffy, Chilean actor, model and boxer Gonzalo Valenzuela, Polish singer and actor Wojciech "Łozo" Lozowski.
