Patrick Leonard: "I believe 9-max tournaments should be retired"

Patrick Leonard 2020

Patrick Leonard is a successful poker player and PartyPoker ambassador. He leads an active poker life and often takes initiative concerning the innovative proposals.

In May, the British poker player expressed himself on a subject that a big poker crisis would take place. The PartyPoker ambassador was partly right, since the tournaments of last series in different poker rooms began to fix big overlays towards the end of summer.

To some extent, thanks to Leonard, WPT WOC series has its own characteristics: the tournaments are held with limited re-entries and small amount of time for late registration. Now, Patrick actively supports the idea that there is a need to get rid of 9-max tournaments.

In August, WPT WOC series holds the mix-max tournaments and Leonard supports the short tables. According to his words, he likes short tables rather than 9-max. He also considers that mix-max and 6-max is much better than 8-max. The poker player wants to try his hand at mix-max events that will take place this week. Moreover, Leonard thinks that nine-handed tournaments are outdated and the poker rooms should stop holding them.

Patrick didn’t present hard evidence against 9-max tables. However, if the majority of PartyPoker players support this idea, 9-max tournaments could completely disappear from PartyPoker lobby.

In any case, fans of 9 max tables will find a room for themselves if there are changes to PartyPoker.
