Patrick Leonard wins his first gold bracelet in WSOP team event
Successful UK player and PartyPoker Ambassador Patrick Leonard has earned a lot of recognition in the online poker world. In 2014, this poker player was considered the best online MTT player according to the PocketFives portal.
In 2020, he was still at his best, even though he had already been moved to third place in the rating. He already has the MILLIONS South America title, SCOOP and WCOOP victories, but as many other poker players he has been chasing a WSOP bracelet throughout his entire career.
And Patrick was no exception, attending the 2022 World Series of Poker tournaments. The Briton did well in the $1 000 buy-in WSOP Event #55: Tag Team event and finally got his first gold bracelet.
Tag Team tournaments are very popular at the annual WSOP. No wonder, given the fact that playing in a team with another poker player, you have a chance to win two gold bracelets at once.
This year the event brought together 913 teams in total, and the final prize fund of the tournament reached $812 570. Patrick Leonard, together with his partner from Norway, Espen Jorstad, managed to win and earn two WSOP gold bracelets, as well as $148 060 in prize money for two.
Leonard noted that he was very pleased to work with the Norwegian in the team. They played almost equally and all the time during his rest, Patrick studied his rivals from the side. Espen did the same.
Leonard said that the biggest advantage both he and his companion had was their freshness: they clearly divided the time spent at the table and took turns in the game with fresh forces.
Runner-ups were two US poker players Jamie Kerstetter and Corey Paggeot, who received a payout of $91 510 in second place. Jamie is very famous in the poker community and she congratulated the winners on Twitter and named them worthy of the bracelets. It is noteworthy that the only international team at the final table were the champions of the tournament.
