Phil Ivey became the champion of MILLIONS SHR Sochi tournament

In recent years, Phil Ivey rarely won the big live poker tournaments. His judicial problems with Borgata casino also played significant role. Ivey’s winnings were confiscated and a suit was filed against him in the amount of millions of dollars.

Despite all the troubles, Phil continues to play and tries to stay in a cohort of top players. Millions Sochi super high rollers series is taking place in Sochi, and Phil takes part in it.   

On March 12, Ivey became the runner-up of 6+ Hold'em tournament and earned $525 000. In another $50 000 high rollers tournament at Millions SHR Sochi, Phil managed to become the winner. 6+ Hold'em event for $50 000 collected 55 entries and prize pool reached the mark of $2 750 000.

From the beginning of the tournament, it seemed that the owner of 10 WSOP bracelets was seriously about the victory. Great poker experience and excellent play allowed him to get to the final table with Sam Greenwood, Sergi Reixach, Seth Davies, Wai Kiat Lee and Michael Soyza.

At the final table, Phil Ivey continued to show the confident play and got to the heads-up in which he played against Michael Soyza. At the beginning of final battle, the players had almost equal stacks, but soon Ivey started to win more and more chips.

In the last hand, Soyza went all-in with a pair of kings, but Ivey called with a nut flush. The winner earned $856 000, and the runner-up of event enriched with $561 000.  

The total winnings in the live tournaments of Ivey’s career reached the mark of $29 000 000. After this result, Ivey jumped from the 14th position to the 11th one in All Time Money List.
