Pokerstars Continues to Leave the Markets: Now Norway
Last month there was a statement about the fact that Pokerstars decided to leave the market of Montenegro and close its activities in this country. And here again the popular room announces its withdrawal from another European market – Norway. The cause for this decision was "commercial reasons" and the strengthening of regulatory measures and legislation of the country.
"For commercial reasons, we have decided to stop offering our products to residents of Norway from October 26, 2023 and have informed our customers about this," the management commented.
An email was sent to all Norwegian players last week to inform them that Pokerstars online services will no longer be available to them as of Thursday, October 26th. The operator has assured its customers that they will still have access to their accounts and their funds will remain safe, allowing them to withdraw at their convenience.
Such a decision of the brand caused a lot of surprise among poker fans, because after the victory of Espen Jørstad in the WSOP Main Event 2022, poker in Norway is on the rise.
This does not mean that Norwegian grinders will have to say goodbye to playing at this poker room forever. There have been cases in history where PS have returned to the market in certain countries after several years of absence. Most often this may be due to major changes in legislation. For example, this happened with Slovenia and Slovakia in 2020.
