The Slovak authorities blocked access to PokerStars
In Slovakia, the gambling on Internet has been prohibited for more than three years. However, the ruling power actively drafted the bills to legalize gambling. Since the adoption of a law concerning prohibition, such a big poker giants as PartyPoker and PokerStars left the Slovak market.
In the spring of 2020, PokerStars.eu became available in Slovakia. The players tried to find information about PokerStars license on the website of organization that regulates gambling in Slovakia. However, the searches were unsuccessful and players realized that PokerStars.eu began its activity illegally.
In its defense, PokerStars reported that they operated under a Maltese license. But apparently, the Maltese license was not enough.
Slovakia blocked access to PokerStars.eu
The organization that regulates gambling in Slovakia sued. On 19 June, the court ruled that access to Pokerstars.eu should be blocked.
Now, PokerStars players in Slovakia will have big problems related to the site access. Soon, they won’t be able to enter poker room or make financial transactions.
Most likely, the poker room will try to get a license in order to operate legally, as well as not to lose the Slovak players’ pool.
