Three Top World Poker Series in December: WSOP vs WPT vs EPT

Tournament poker series in December

December 2023 promises to be one of the hottest poker months in a long time. It is during this period that three top world series will compete for the attention of players and fans: WSOP, WPT and EPT.

What do they offer?

2023 WSOP Paradise

On the wave of success of WSOP 2023, the organizers of the series announced the holding of a new stage in the Bahamas – WSOP Paradise. The series will take place from December 3 to 14, and the schedule includes 15 bracelet events with buy-ins from $800 to $100,000. The total guarantee of the festival is $50,000,000. The main events of the series will be the $25,000 GGMillion$ High Rollers Championship and the $5,000 MAIN EVENT CHAMPIONSHIP. The guarantees in these tournaments are $10,000,000 and $15,000,000 respectively. Just like in the summer, the $1,500 Millionaire Maker in Paradise tournament is also expected to generate excitement. Many will want to take advantage of the chance to become a millionaire for only $1,500. The lucky ones who won free tickets to the Bahamas as part of the WSOP Online series will also play in it.

WPT World Championship

This September, the organizers of the World Poker Tour announced a record $40,000,000 guarantee for their upcoming WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Building on their success last year, when the stated WPT World Championship guarantee of $15,000,000 was beaten by a prize pool of $29,000,000, the organizers decided to attempt an all-time record. It's worth noting that with the exception of the WSOP Main Event, never before in the history of poker has a $10,000 buy-in tournament drawn as many participants as needed to achieve this record-breaking guarantee. Collecting $40 million in one tournament may seem like an overly ambitious goal.

And we will find out whether the organizers of the 2023 WPT World Championship will succeed in the period from November 29 to December 21, when the series will take place. Also within the framework of this festival there will be a grandiose Big One for One Drop event with an equally grandiose buy-in of $1,000,000. Participation in this tournament has already been confirmed by Phil Ivey, who personally brought $1,000,000 to the casino.

2023 EPT Prague

For those to whom the Bahamas and Las Vegas seem too far away, there is the traditional stage of the European Poker Tour in Prague. The Prague stage has always been one of the most popular ones of the EPT. Last year's EPT Prague Main Event drew a record 1267 entries (the previous record was 1192 entries in 2016). The winner was Canadian Jordan Saccucci, who earned 913,250 euros. Traditionally, EPT tournaments are held without guarantees, the prize fund is formed based on the results of entries. The series itself will take place from December 6 to 17, and its main events will be:

  • €50,000 EPT Super High Roller
  • €5,300 EPT Main Event
  • €3,000 EPT Mystery Bounty
  • €10,300 EPT High Roller

2023 EPT Prague announcement

A positive of such a busy schedule is a rich variety of events and news that fans and poker fans are interested in following. There is also a negative because players who are ready to play in several series have to choose where to go.

We will find out in December whether the overlap of schedules will affect the attendance of the series. One thing is clear: offline poker is booming.
