Triton Poker announced rules for a £1 million tourney
Earlier this month, we informed our readers that Triton Poker announced about the most expensive tournament in poker history. Now, more details of this project became known and the rules of the most expensive event are pretty surprising.
The tournament takes place from 1st to 3rd August in London. The entry fee for the competition is 1 050 000 pounds: 50 000 (taken from each player) will be donated to charity and one million pounds will go to the prize fund, which means not only the largest pot in poker history but also the biggest prize money in the history of the game. However, these figures may change since everything will depend on the number of participants.

It will be part of a large festival that starts on 31st, July and lasts until 8th, August. Here is the full schedule of the festival:
It became known that the rules of this Event will be far from the standard high rollers. The organizers decided to move in a completely new direction and present the rules that many players hadn't even expect.
Special invitations
As it is a charity tournament, the organizers of the Triton Super High Roller Series decided that it would be invite-only. This time poker players will be able to participate if they receive an appropriate invitation or someone takes them with him/her.
Triton Poker wants to balance the number of poker pros and wealthy businessmen playing recreationally (at leisure). Many rich poker enthusiasts, both men and women, were sent the invitations. It is they who can register the "accompanying person" in the tournament - in this case, most likely one of the biggest poker stars.

So far, the list is still very modest. It includes eleven businessmen - Ivan Leow, Paul Phua, Richard Yong, Bobby Baldwin, Rob Yong and Rick Salomon are among them. There are only three professionals in the list: Rui Cao, David Peters and Tom Dwan. The number of participants will certainly grow.
Amateurs versus professionals
But this is not the end of facilities for amateurs. The tournament field will be divided as follows: on the first day of the event, fans will play only amongst themselves and in the second group - poker professionals will fight against each other. Only on the second and third day, all participants will meet at common tables. There will be no big hunting for recreational players from the very start of the tournament, and the pros will have to work a lot to move up to the next game.
Face covering ban
Such stuff as sunglasses, headwear, hoodies, hoods covering face during the game, are strictly forbidden. This is planned to be done in order to even out the odds at the tables. The entire player's head (from the neck and up) must be seen during the game. Best nine players will be also required to appear at the final table wearing suits and this has never happened before. This news may be very pleasant for poker professional Patrik Antonius since the thing that most irritates the guy is when people use the aforementioned things to hide their emotions at the table.
