WSOP 2020: separate leaderboard to be created for events worth $1 500

The WSOP 2020 organizers announced that they would introduce a separate leaderboard «Player of the Year» for the tournaments worth $1 500. In total, the series will host 25 events with the given entry fee.

At present, it is unclear how many tournaments will be there in the leaderboard. Poker players will get points for reaching the ITM zone of these events. The participants who manage to top the ranking will receive cash prizes.

In 2020, the organizers of the series have decided to increase the number of tourneys with a buy-in of $1 500. According to the Vice President of WSOP, Jack Effel, such events are important for the festival therefore they remain to be the core ones for the World Series of Poker.

In the tournaments for $1 500, there will be no opportunity of unlimited re-entries. Thus, poker players will be able to pay only one buy-in per flight in the Closer and Millionaire Maker.

Earlier, the organizers already introduced the final schedule of the events with entry fee equal to $1 500. Mainly, these will be freezeout tourneys held in No Limit Hold'em format.
