WSOP 2020: the dates and some events of series were announced

Next year, the 51st annual WSOP 2020 series will be held. On New Year's eve, the organizers of series announced the dates and some events of the main poker series of the year. 

WSOP annual festival in 2020 will open its doors on 26 May. The full schedule of events won’t be published for several months, but some details about tournaments are already known.

Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will be again the venue for World Series of Poker.  Despite the fact that Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino was recently sold to Dreamscape Companies for $516.3 million, Caesars Entertainment reserves the rights for WSOP.  

The first bracelet tournaments will start on 27 May, 2020. BIG 50 with $500 buy-in will be the opening event. The starting days of the tournament are scheduled for May 28, 29, 30 and 31.

WSOP Main Event will start on 1 July, 2020. The buy-in of Main Event won’t be changed – $10 000. In total, there will be 3 starting days in the tournament: July 1,2,3.

The players who will successfully finish such days as 1a and 2b will play in day 2ab on 4 July. The players from day 1c will continue to play in day 2c on 5 July. The first combining of the pool will be on 6 July in a day 3, and the game will be carried out up to 10 July, until the final table is determined. The day off is scheduled for 11 July, and the final table of Main Event will be broadcasted on ESPN/ ESPN2 on July 12-14.  

Seniors Championship, which is a popular NLH championship among the older generation, is the third and the last event confirmed by WSOP at this time. The tournament with $1 000 buy-in will start on Thursday, on 18 June. Only the players over the age of 50 can participate in it. The final table of this event is expected on Sunday, on 21 June.

WSOP 2019

In total, WSOP events 2019 collected a record number of entries – 187 298, and $293 183 345 of prize money. On the average, WSOP bracelet tournament in 2019 had a prize pool of $3 250 000.

This year's series once again formed the huge pools in main events: Main Event (8 569), Big 50 (28 371), Deepstack No-Limit Hold'em (6 150), Millionaire Maker (8 809), Double Stack ( 6 214), Monster Stack (6 035), Crazy Eights (10 185), Seniors Championship (5 916), Colossus (13 109), Deepstack Championship (6 140), Mini Main Event (5 521) and Little One for One Drop (6 248). Each of these tournaments collected over 5 000 participants (111 267 entries in total) and it is expected that all these landmark events will return in 2020.

Over 500 poker tables will be set on nearly 200 000 square feet (18 500 square meters) of gaming room in order to accommodate thousands of players from all over the world.

The hotel reservation is already possible in all Caesars Las Vegas hotels at prices starting from $33 for current participants of Caesars Rewards by using the reservation code WSOP20.

The preliminary online registration for separate events will be opened in March/April, after all events are determined and approved by the regulatory authorities.

The entry fees for Rio WSOP tournaments in 2020 will start from $75. The single-table satellites for bracelet tournaments will be carried out at the series almost every day. A full schedule of events is expected to be published in the first quarter of 2020.
