WSOP Main Event champ comments on the upcoming WSOP ME
The Main Event World Series of Poker 2020 with a $27 559 500 prize pool took place in early September. This year, the series was carried out online on WSOP.com and GGPoker for obvious reasons.
As you are well aware, the Bulgarian poker player Stoyan Madanzhiev became the $5K WSOP Online Main Event champion. Back then, he earned the biggest prize money in his poker career – $3 904 685.
The event itself entered the Guinness Book of Records as a tournament with the highest guarantee in online poker history. This is not surprising given that there was a wide grid of satellites and a large number of starting flights.
The poker community, however, surprised to learn that another $10K Main Event WSOP Online will be conducted in December. The tournament winner will receive a gold bracelet and a minimum of $1 000 000 in prize money.
By analogy with the previous series, the event will be held at WSOP.com (for American players) and at GGPoker (for the rest of the world). The Main Event that will be hosted by GGPoker is said to have three starting days. It's known that the ME final table will take place live at King’s Casino.
The ME WSOP Online champ, Stoyan Madanzhiev, could not help but comment on the upcoming Main Event on his Twitter page:
The player also attached a photo of the gold bracelet and congratulations on winning the event:
It turns out that the Main Event of the WSOP Online 2020 held in the summer and the Main Event World Series of Poker 2020 are two different things.
Famous Canadian poker professional Sam Greenwood expressed his support for Madanzhiev on Twitter, stating that WSOP ME 2020 has a champion and his name is Stoyan Madanzhiev. According to Greenwood, such events are very important to poker history and one tournament cannot be downplayed in favour of another one.
